What is AWS T2?

This makes T2 instances ideal for workloads that do not require a lot of CPU power, but may still require it at certain times.

What is AWS T3?

An AWS T3 instance is a variant of Amazon Web Services (AWS) i.e., upgraded for a better quality of performance, affordability, and resiliency. It is developed for applications that require large amounts of CPU and memory compared to a T2 instance, and is suitable for applications that experience limited increases in CPU usage, such as web applications and software development environments. In addition, AWS T3 instances include up to 16 vCPUs, up to 128 GiB of memory, and up to 16.5 Gbps of network capacity.


There are many types of instances of Amazon EC2 but we only talk about T2 and T3 instances. So, to understand the difference between these two instances, here are the points which mainly help you to understand the comparison between T2 and T3 instances:

T2 instances are general-purpose instances suitable for web servers, development and test environments, and running small databases. They offer a baseline performance level at a low cost while T3 instances are bursty, general-purpose instances that provide baseline performance and the ability to perform at a higher level when needed. This allows for greater cost savings compared to T2 instances.

For applications that require short-term acceleration in CPU usage, T2 instances are generally more beneficial, while T3 instances are more useful for applications that require robust CPU performance.

Generally, T2 instances are great for applications that have low traffic and development environments, while T3 instances are perfect for those applications that require a high level of performance and resiliency.
